![]() | MARVIN RAMMarvin Ram was born in Vacoa Mauritius. In the late sixties, aged seven; his family immigrated to the UK where they set up home in east London. After completing his formal education, Marvin set out to pursue a career in commercial art. However fate had different ideas. Haulted by a serious car accident, he now had surplus time to re-evaluate his future. Marvin always had a deep appreciation for music, indeed much of his teenage recreational time was spent following and being a part of the sound-system clash era. During his time of convelesance, he began teaching himself to play guitar and so a seed was planted which was to become a labour of love, fueled by a passion to learn and broaden his knowledge in the craft of making music.Partnering with keyboard player/singer/song writer Lloyd Gordon aka Stretch, the duo embarked on a variety of music projects, including the funding and releasing of three singles. In 1984 they joined a local reggae band "Black Survivors". The band toured Great Britain and Ireland and released their first album 'Famine'. After more successful live tours they released their second album 'Nations of the World' and were now touring Europe extensively, filling venues wherever they performed and supporting bands such as Third World, The Wailers, Misty in Roots, Macka B, Alpha Blondy, Daddy U Roy, Mad Professor and Delroy Washington, to name but a few. In 1999 Marvin began to explore new avenues in the music industry. He studied to become an instrumental music facilitator and taught at the Lennox Lewis College for children with learning difficulties. He continued performing live guitar, doing session work for various artists including: Rochford, Tipper Ire, Macka B and Winston Reedy. Always striving for knowledge and learning new instruments and styles he is now self taught in Lead and rhythm guitar, Bass guitar, Vocals, Keyboards, Percussion and Drum programming. Marvin has now moved into music production and sound engineering. He has now completed his latest project "Musicology" Featuring up and coming local artist 'SIL3NCE'. This album brings together an eclectic mix of musical influences and styles ranging from reggae, jazz/funk, rock, hip hop, to Latin, Indian, African and Classical. The music of Native D-MAND strives to inspire hope through awareness and peace through love. It is true that this is not a new message, but clearly one that still needs to be told. |
| SIL3NCESil3nce was born in Wolverhampton in the West Midlands UK and is now residing in Walthamstow, East London. He has been demonstrating his skills as a natural performer since the age of fifteen. Having lost his father at the early age of twelve, Sil3nce has learnt to call upon his inner strength as he strives to excel in life and art. His exciting rythmic rapping edge and charateristically individual singing style delivers a positive uplifting message both to his peers and all who care to listen. Being of Indian heritage, the influence of bhangra music is evident in his style. His inspirations include the likes of: Kuldip Manak, D.C.S, Malkit Singh, Lene Marlin and Bob Marley. For the last two years Sil3nce has been working with Native D-MAND. A complementary relationship which has sperned the album project 'Musicology' which is set for release in early 2010. |
